Web Developer

Job Description:
Ignition Media is looking for a full-time Web Developer to join our team. You would be developing software that we use in-house, as well as software designed for our clients.


An ideal candidate will be capable of a broad range of cross-disciplinary tasks, such as:

  • Problem Solving

  • Software Engineering

  • Database Design and Optimization

  • Front-End UI Development

  • Build and Deployment Process

  • Debugging and Quality Assurance



    • Candidates should possess the following personal attributes:
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  • The flexibility to multi-task and positively respond to our clients’ and team’s changing needs.

  • Eye for detail



    • Candidates will be expected to demonstrate the following competencies:
  • Intimate knowledge of HTML and CSS, including those pesky cross-browser issues

  • Familiarity with the MVC design pattern

  • An intimate knowledge of PHP 5, including knowledge of frameworks such as Zend, CakePHP or CodeIgniter as well as Object-Oriented Programming Techniques.

  • Knowledge of MySQL Syntax, Data Normalization, Indexing, and Query Optimization

  • Experience with JavaScript, including knowledge of a JavaScript framework such as jQuery, Prototype, or MooTools.

  • Familiarity with Photoshop or similar visual design tools

  • Comfortable with source version control and distributed source version control software (SVN, Git)



    • The following mad skills would be assets
  • Experience with WordPress, including developing themes and plugins

  • Sensitivity to design

  • UX Design Experience

  • Experience with compiled JavaScript frameworks such as Cappuccino or SproutCore

  • Experience with low-level languages such as C or C++

    • While this is a fairly exhaustive list, we don’t expect you to be a grandmaster in every area. If you’re a PHP zen master who knows nothing about SQL, we’d still love to hear from you.
